But the domain and the hosting are two different products wearing one price tag, and the renewal math lives inside a 48-month total-cost calculation that's easy to lose track of. If you just want the domain (or you're moving hosting elsewhere), here's how to separate them.
The bundle math, unpacked
Hostinger's domain search page is designed to route you into a hosting plan — "Hosting keeps it online" — with a free domain thrown in for a year or longer commitment. The intro rate is real, and so is the renewal rate they disclose (e.g. "Renews at $10.99/mo"), but it's stated inside a total-cost-over-48-months frame, not as a standalone yearly domain price you can compare apples-to-apples against a dedicated registrar.
Once your commitment period ends, the domain typically renews at Hostinger's standalone rate — separate from whatever you're paying for hosting.

When you should stay at Hostinger
- You want your domain, hosting, and email all under one bill and don’t mind the multi-year commitment.
- You’re happy with Hostinger’s hosting/site-builder product itself — the domain bundling is a genuine perk if you're using the rest of the stack.
If you just want the domain on its own — or you're moving your site elsewhere and want the domain to stop being tied to a hosting renewal — separating it is straightforward.
How to transfer your domain out — step by step
- Check eligibility. The domain must be more than 60 days old and not transferred in the last 60 days (an ICANN rule).
- Unlock the domain in your Hostinger hPanel (Domains → the domain → Unlock).
- Get your authorization (EPP) code from the same screen — Hostinger emails or displays it.
- Start the transfer at Modusdom. Paste the domain + EPP code on our transfer page. You pay one year’s renewal ($18.99 for .com) and ICANN adds that year onto your current expiry.
- Approve it. Confirm the email we (and Hostinger) send. It auto-completes in about 5–7 days. Your hosting and site keep running the whole time — only the domain's registrar changes.
